Highlights from the December 2023 Release
Below are the updates from this release that may be of most use to our clients.
New Concurrent Usage Simulators in REST API and EPM Automate
Both the REST API and EPM Automate have added the ability to simulate concurrent usage, executing specified operations for a given number of users and iterations. These can be used to validate the performance of your environment and test response times under load. This is especially useful as a benchmark prior to going to production or after making significant changes in your application.
EPM Automate Skip Update Period Extended
You can now use the skipUpdate EPM Automate command to skip the regular monthly updates to an environment for up to three consecutive cycles. Previously the value was a maximum of two.
TLS 1.3 Protocol Support
For clients in EPM Cloud OCI environments, the newest version of the TLS protocol, version 1.3, is now supported. TLS 1.3 provides support for newer, more secure cryptographic features and speeds up SSL handshakes during communication with EPM Cloud.
Task Manager Updates
First, Task Manager is enhanced with a new end-user integration and task type called View Operational Dashboard that allows you to assign tasks to view Operational Dashboards.
Additionally, Task Manager in Oracle Smart View for Office is enhanced for better usability, quicker access to task details, and better navigation to integrated tasks.
Data Integration
A new Quick Mode, a file-based load feature enables you to process high-volume data loads from a file source that provides significant performance improvement over the standard workflow method when complex transformations are not required. This feature is available for numeric and non-numeric data types.
Data Integration now supports integration with Profitability and Cost Management Cloud.
Planning
A new Model Validation tool is available for Strategic Modeling – it evaluates a model for common issues, helping to ensure optimal performance. Key among the validations is one that finds circular references that prevent a model from being calculated.
Enterprise Data Management
In this cycle, many functional updates and enhancements have been made. If you are an EDM customer, you should check this section of Oracle’s update using the URL below.
Upcoming Changes
The following changes will be made in future updates. For detailed information on each please check the Important Actions and Considerations section of the update in Oracle’s advisory at the URL below.
- Plan to discontinue non-Redwood Experience themes.
- Future deprecation of the Native Mode option for Smart View Ad Hoc behavior.
- The User Variables Dimension column will honor the alias setting in User Preferences.
- Calculation Manager will enforce the use of the Errors and Warnings diagnostic tool prior to the launch, validation, or deployment of new business rules. If errors are found, you will be forced to resolve these before continuing. Note that currently existing, currently deployed rules will continue to run as-is.
